Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data the Money Wallet app (Android, iOS, macOS, Windows) and the website money-wallet.net process, why, for how long, and what your rights are. It is written to meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible
The controller is Alexey Starchikov, a private individual. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@money-wallet.net.
All our servers (synchronisation, purchases, currency rates, database and analytics) run on a rented virtual server in the European Union. We do not use third-party analytics services.
2. Data we process
Synced data
If you turn on sync, the app uploads your financial data to our server: accounts, transactions, budgets, schedules and categories, including account images, transaction photos and the GPS location you attach to a transaction. It is stored under the user id issued by your sign-in provider (Microsoft, Yandex or Apple). Sync does not store your name or email address.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — providing the sync you asked for.
Without sync, your data stays on your device and we never receive it.
Server logs
Our servers log each request with your IP address, time and the request made.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — keeping the service secure and working.
Analytics and crash reports
The app sends usage events and crash reports to our own, self-hosted Measure.sh server. They contain device model, OS and app version, and what happened in the app; they do not contain your financial data. Analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in the app settings.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — finding bugs and improving the app.
Purchases
For paid features we store:
- your provider user id, the store order id, store receipts or purchase tokens, price and currency, and the validity period;
- for Microsoft Store purchases, the Microsoft Store key and token;
- for gifted, developer and direct licences, your name and email address.
Payment itself is handled by the store (Google Play, App Store, AppGallery, RuStore or Microsoft Store); we never see your card details.
Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Erase requests
When you request erasure we store the request: your provider user id, the provider, the dates, its status and the contact email you give us, so we can carry it out and tell you when it is done.
Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — handling your GDPR request.
Currency rates
The app asks our currency server for exchange rates. Only currency codes are sent.
3. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Synced data | Until you delete it or it is erased at your request |
| Server logs | 30 days |
| Analytics and crash reports | 90 days |
| Erase-request records | 1 year after the erasure is completed |
| Purchase data | While the purchase is valid, plus 1 year |
Backups you make yourself to OneDrive, Yandex Disk or your device are under your control; we cannot access or delete them.
4. Third parties
Some features talk to other companies directly from your device. They process data under their own privacy policies.
| Provider | What for | When | Policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microsoft | Sign-in, OneDrive backup, Microsoft Store purchases | When you sign in, back up or buy | Link |
| Yandex | Sign-in, Yandex Disk backup | When you sign in or back up | Link |
| Apple | Sign-in, App Store purchases | When you sign in or buy | Link |
| Maps and location, document scanning, Google Play billing, reviews and updates | When you use these features on Android | Link | |
| Huawei | Maps and location, document scanning, AppGallery billing, reviews and updates | When you use these features on Huawei devices | Link |
| RuStore (VK) | Billing, reviews and updates | When you install from RuStore | Link |
| Federal Tax Service of Russia (FNS) | Looking up a receipt | Only when you scan a Russian receipt | Link |
Transfer outside the EU. When you scan a Russian fiscal receipt, the receipt data is sent to the FNS in Russia, a country without an EU adequacy decision. This happens only because you ask for it, to give you the service you requested (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR). If you do not scan Russian receipts, nothing is sent to the FNS.
5. Erasing your data
You can ask us to erase your data at money-wallet.net/erase, or from the app's sync settings, by signing in with the same account you use for sync.
- All your synced data is deleted from our server 30 days after the request. Until then you can cancel the request on the same page.
- Expired purchase data is deleted. Active licences are kept until they expire so you keep what you paid for; email us if you want them removed earlier.
- If you signed in with Apple, we revoke our Apple sign-in tokens.
- The erase-request record, server logs and analytics are kept until their retention period ends (see section 3).
- Data on your devices and in your own backups is not touched — delete it yourself if you want it gone.
- Sign out of sync on every device (or delete the app) before requesting erasure. A device that is still syncing will upload your data again.
We email you when the erasure is complete.
6. The website
money-wallet.net sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics. Our web server logs your IP address and browser user agent for 30 days, under legitimate interest (security and operation).
On the erase page, Microsoft, Yandex or Apple are contacted only when you choose to sign in with them. Their script keeps temporary session data in your browser, used only to verify your erase request.
7. Your rights
- Access and portability: export your data in the app, or email us and we will send it within 30 days.
- Rectification: edit your data in the app.
- Erasure: use the erase page.
- Objection: turn off analytics in the app settings.
- Complaint: you may complain to your data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work. The list of authorities is on the EDPB website.
8. Children
Money Wallet is not directed at children under 16.
